MACAM in Collaboration with MusicMotion Alliance & Assault on structure kindly invites you to,
IN-PROSPECTIVE, a collaborative exhibition that stands as a closing event for
A Retrospective of Lebanese contemporary artist Mario Saba (1962 – 2011).
Artists CHRISTO SABA, OLIVIER LALONDE, FIRAS HALLAK, MELISSA GHAZALE and
performers ERAYLIK & MME CHANDELIER gather around to make a one-day installation in homage to Mario.
This multidisciplinary show revisits the notion of “closure”, not in the sense of grief, but rather as the need to document an unresolved past.
In-Prospective unravels the traces of an oeuvre within a new environment, a new ‘territory’. Referring to Deleuze & Guattari ‘s territorial processes, the exhibition is an attempt to Deterritorialize and simultaneously Reterritorialize Mario’s work into a hybrid body designed by emerging artists that were personally, or indirectly, influenced by him. It is time-based experience that touches upon lingering traces, and the inability to give up what has already been taken.
THE WORKS ▼
● Christo Saba | AV Installation
THE TEMPLE REVISITED
It’s an Audio/Visual installation that is revisiting and reinterpreting some of Mario’s ideas in his last projects “The Temple” and “Utopia The Babylon Syndrome”. Several animated video scenes will be projected on a structure built with white painting canvases using projection mapping technology. Each scene will reflect a specific idea that Mario elaborated in his previously mentioned projects. The video will demonstrate several audio/visual techniques showing the manipulation of 3D visuals through sound and vice versa. Visuals and sound waves will be generated dynamically and in synergy through out the audiovisual work. The audience will have access to sit on illuminated wooden boxes that contain Led Lights on the inside.

Assault on structure is an audiovisual platform based in Beirut, Lebanon. Its cultural and artistic ethos divorces itself from more conventional practices, by virtue of its inherently innovative approach on the medium.
This initiative is an assault on conformism itself, intervening with urban space and sound by disembedding organisms from their original function, thus producing a surreal outcome, a metaphorical demonstration, a form of artistic resistance.
It is hybrid, trans-disciplinary platform that manifests around hand-picked locations in Beirut, aiming to perch an ephemeral damage as a symbolic demonstration of Lebanon’s ongoing regime(s) of corruption. The platform integrates Hybrid art installations and live electronic music in order to dominate the sound spectrum of the space being assaulted.
