AUB Alumni 150 years – Arts & Crafts Festival

MACAM is joining the AUB Alumni 150 year’s celebrations in its ARTS & CRAFTS Festival on Friday and Saturday, 8-9 July from 4-10 pm at Westhall. MACAM invites you to its outdoor stand for its special offers of its published art books.

MACAM 3rd Anniversary Celebration

MACAM marked its 3rd Anniversary on June 25 in a festive evening serenaded by Canadian harpist Catherine Thompson, underscored by enchanting Clos St.Thomas wine. Around two hundred friends gathered in and outside the museum, joining the opening of the AGE OF RECYCLING exhibition and award ceremony for the winners in the competition sponsored by the Diane Foundation.

Winners of the AGE OF RECYCLING Competition

Thirty-five artists participated and delivered stunning works, some deeply conceptional of the garbage crisis and some playful creative fun.
The jury consisted of Dr. Guita Hourani, Mrs. Joumana Behlok and architect Joseph Brakhya ….and the winners were:

1st Prize – Paulette Touma-Eid for her life size woman figure out of aluminum cans title ‘From Cloud to Ground’

2nd Prize went to Gina Nahle-Bauer for ‘Eating Art’ , an animal bone transformed into a Picasso-like head.
3rd Prize went to Lana Charara for her elaborate house ‘Beit el Mastoor’.
Marwan Nahle received Honorary mention for his ‘Kinder Treesmas’ of 203 plastic pieces and ornaments.

The show will go on at MACAM until end of September 2016.

New Addition to the MACAM Team

Rosie Karkari joined the MACAM team as Fundraising and Event Manager bringing with her a rich international experience in the field.

Expect more activities and greater events to come!

Drawings for the Japanese Children’s Museum of Art

MACAM is organizing a special drawing workshop for children, age 6-15. Ten drawings will be selected and send to Japan for an international children exhibition to be held in January 2017.

Book Donations

A BIG Thank You goes to Loryne Atoui Laham for her donation of international art books to the RectoVerso Library.

RectoVerso Library Closed in August

The library will be closed during the month of August to open only on appointment, contact 71347 716.
There will be no Monot Street Book Market in August.

All its activities will resume in September.
