Learning in a New Way

MACAM welcomes schools into a unique setting at the crossroads of art and education. Our educational programs promote active exploration, the “Slow Looking” method, and creativity, while also developing transferable skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, and personal expression. 

Each visit combines cultural discovery with hands-on experience, directly connected to school curricula and contemporary issues.


Proven impact

Over 11,000 students have experienced MACAM’s programs, developing sharper observation, stronger creativity, and a lasting appreciation for the arts.

Duration: Approximately 3 hours (guided tour + creative workshop + snack break).

Booking: Reserve at least 2 weeks in advance.

Program Design: Each visit is customized to your school’s pedagogical objectives and student needs, with guidance from MACAM’s education coordinator.

Preparation: Your school will receive a pre-visit guide and toolkit cards to introduce students to Lebanese sculptors.

Accessibility & Inclusion

• Wheelchair accessible.

• Selected sculptures available for tactile exploration – staff trained as sighted guides for visually impaired learners.

• All visits and workshops offered in Arabic, French, and English.

Program for Elementary School

MACAM’s elementary school program is designed to engage children actively with art, heritage, and nature, fostering observation, creativity, and cultural understanding. Each visit is carefully structured to balance guided exploration, hands-on creation, and outdoor learning. Students rotate in small groups (20–26 per group) to ensure personalized attention and rich interaction with educators and artworks.

  • Introduction to MACAM and the role of a museum in society

  • Young learners discover the museum through fun guided stories that explain art, sculpture techniques, and materials, while connecting them to modern Lebanese history. Then, they get to draw one of the artworks based on a theme chosen with their school.

Program for Middle School

MACAM’s Middle School program is designed to develop observation, creativity, and critical thinking, while connecting students to Lebanese heritage, contemporary art, and social issues. Each visit combines museum exploration, hands-on workshops, and outdoor activities, giving students a rich, interactive, and age-appropriate learning experience.

  • Introduction to MACAM and the role of a museum in society

  • Students engage in in-depth observation of sculptures and installations, guided by discussions on techniques, concepts, and Lebanese cultural heritage. “Slow Looking” is complemented by analytical exercises, encouraging students to interpret meanings, materials, and artistic intentions while connecting to broader contemporary and global art practices.

  • • Mini Totem Poles

    In small groups, students design and stack symbolic clay figures to create a collective totem installation, exploring form, symbolism, and collaboration.

    • Abstract Art in Clay

    Students create abstract clay sculptures expressing emotions and personal narratives, learning spatial reasoning, composition, and tactile techniques.

    • Light Metal Statuettes

    Using metal wire, students construct small figurative or abstract sculptures, exploring metalworking basics, three-dimensional design, and creative experimentation.
