Gropius Bau

The exhibition “Beirut and the Golden Sixties: A Manifesto of Fragility” co-curated by Sam Bardaouil and Till Fellrath is in Gropius Bau from March 25 until June 12, 2023. Illustrated with some of Lebanon’s greatest modern artworks, the exhibition revisits Beirut’s pre-Civil War times – an era often described as Lebanon’s “golden age”.

The exhibition displays six sculptures from MACAM’s collection (Michel Basbous, Joseph Basbous, Salou Raouda Choucair, and three from Dorothy Salhab Kazemi), and over half of the 300 archival documents on display (posters, brochures, invitations, photos…) are from MACAM’s archives. We are honored to have contributed to this fascinating reading of Lebanon’s pre-war history.
