Art & Life

Art & Life

Join us in celebrating the life of Cesar Nammour (1937-2021), founder of MACAM on June 24, 2021, at 2 pm.

From industrial ventures to MACAM, Cesar Nammour was not one to talk about his past but always discussed new projects and future ventures. He never framed any award or honorary mention that he received, but neatly stored them in a folder, as he did with any document relating to art; articles, brochures, books, art exhibit cards, or posters. These documents are invaluable witnesses of our artistic heritage and Cesar’s many contributions to it.

This exhibition highlights some of the documents that he preserved. It is by no means exhaustive; many elements of MACAM’s archive can be woven into future installations. Likewise, Cesar’s publications and lectures will not remain in folders but will be soon accessible to all, in accordance with his will.

You will catch a glimpse of some of his projects, some of his writings and lectures. Just a glimpse for now, more will come soon, as this prolific writer, lecturer, art collector and activist still has much to share with us on the visual arts in Lebanon.
